A Liquidation Order was issued by the Circuit Court of the Second Judicial Circuit in and for Leon County, Florida on November 4, 2011 for the purpose of liquidating the Homewise Preferred Insurance Company (HPIC). The Liquidation Order contains a finding of insolvency for the company. The Florida Department of Financial Services is the court appointed Receiver of HPIC. This court order, along with an Order of Impairment issued by the Texas Insurance Commissioner, triggers the Texas Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association's (TPCIGA) handling of claims for certain policy losses of HPIC.
HPIC was licensed to do business in its domiciliary state of Florida, South Carolina and Texas.
INSURANCE POLICY & COVERAGE INFORMATION
HPIC stopped writing new and renewal insurance coverage on or about September 2, 2010. The last policy was reported to have expired in June 2011. There are no known policies in-
NEW & PENDING LOSS CLAIMS INFORMATION
Policyholders should continue to notify HPIC of claims under normal reporting procedures, including the reporting of new claims as well as lawsuits pertinent to policies of the company. The Florida Department of Financial Services is currently making arrangements for Texas loss claims files and associated information for shipment to TPCIGA for handling. The TPCIGA will be unable to discuss the status of pending claims until such time as the files and information have been transferred.
