UNEARNED PREMIUM CLAIMS

Texas Select Insurance Company policies were cancelled as of August 24, 2006 at 12:01am. Many policyholders requested cancellations prior to this date and are entitled to premium refunds calculated as of the cancellation date prior to August 24. Cancellation dates used to calculate premium refunds are indicated on the checks being issued.
If policyholders secured replacement coverage prior to the August 24 date and did not notify the company of the earlier cancellation date, they should forward a request in writing by fax, mail or e-mail to this association to notify us regarding the cancellation of their Texas Select policy as of the date of the issuance of the replacement policy. This request should be accompanied by a copy of the replacement policy declaration page (normally the first page of your policy which lists your name and contains specific information about your policy coverages). Requests sent by email must be accompanied by a copy of the replacement policy declaration page in a readable electronic format. This information will allow the association to calculate any additional premium refund and issue a supplemental payment.
TPCIGA has processed checks for over 145,000 Texas Select premium refunds since processing began in October 2006. Checks were issued to policyholders as listed in company records unless we were notified otherwise, accompanied by the appropriate documentation. A considerable number of checks have been returned to this office due to address problems. If you expected and did not receive a premium refund check, you may communicate with us by the contact information below to determine if your check is one which has been returned. If so, and if the age of the check does not exceed six months, we will forward your check to the correct address. If your check was issued but has not been returned by mail, you will receive a new check and a “stop payment” order will be issued for the previous check.
Some refunds may be pending due to additional information needed. Please contact us if you believe that your refund may be delayed for this reason or if you have questions about your Texas Select refund.
